Class News Update
Welcome to Primary 2 with Miss Lynas.
Maths
This term in maths we will be working on numbers to 100 and shape. In numbers to 100 we will be continue to look at place value and ordering numbers from smallest to largest. Within this topic we will also be finding ten more and ten less than. To help in our learning we will be using a number of active strategies including games and interactive whiteboard activities.
Language
In Literacy we have been using the North Lanarkshire active learning strategies. This involves the children focussing on a different phoneme each week for example ‘ay’, ‘ea’ and ‘ow’. The class have been enjoying using their magnetic boards to work in pairs to spell and write their words. We will be continuing this next term for the next set of phonemes.
Topic for this term (activities planned, school trips etc)
Topics
The topics that we have covered so far are ‘Julia Donaldson’ and ‘Dinosaurs’. We enjoyed reading and exploring lots of Julia Donaldson’s books and creating artwork inspired by the characters. We learned lots of facts about Dinosaurs and created fact files and informative posters. Our next topic will be science based and all about our ‘Senses’.
